NOVUSTIKA AND LUXORIA’S AGREEMENT AFTER SOME INCIDENTS CONCERNING ANIMAL POACHING.

Dear Novustikis, we are really sorry to inform you about what happened in the last few months in our country and in Luxoria. We are now both ready to explain what is the current situation since Novustika were finally able to find an agreement with Luxoria’s government last week, and from now on we are sure that we will keep a great relationship with each other.

On April 1st two Novustikis poachers were spotted and arrested in the territory of Luxoria while hunting on polar bears, really precious and endangered animals, whose bones could be used to brew the eternity elixir. They were trying to be no longer pursued for poaching in Novustika, giving our beloved General the eternity elixir in exchange, with which she would remain young and beautiful forever.

Without considering the stupid act of corruption that they were trying to achieve, we feel really angry and sad about those poachers, not just because they made the entire country feel guilty about their actions, but also because we thought that Novustikis were responsable for and caring of nature and in love with the planet.

The other hand, we found that the last elephants and rhino poachers were from Luxoria (check our newsletter for more information). As all Novustika’s citizens should already know, in June some inhabitants near the savannah found two elephants (one of them was pregnant) and a rhino dead, with the fangs removed from their carcasses.

The authorities found and arrested the culprits, two Luxorian hunters who wanted to sell the fangs to the rich in Luxoria, where people are very keen on keeping precious things as trophies.

As a consequence of these terrifying actions, the two governments took measures to punish the other country: sadly, we, as Novustika, weren’t able to participate to the Hockey Cup this year, the UBN-wide competition that takes place in Luxoria every year since 30 years; on the other hand, Luxoria did not have any access to our resources of gas, which are very important to their economy.

However, since we both know that this is not going to immediately stop animal poaching, and since we believed that we needed to stop those restrictions in order to maintain the countries prosperous and healthy, on August the 3rd Novustika and Luxoria started negotiating, and finally on August 28 we both signed a contract.

What is the contract about? First, both Novustika and Luxoria promise to stop animal poaching for the health of the environment and the countries; since a promise isn’t always enough, considering that we are dealing with criminals that didn’t and won’t follow the rules, we will work hard to let poachers (and not just them) understand the value of respecting other species and people. In Novustika, starting from next January, every school will be implemented with specific classes concerning the importance of biodiversity, the respect of nature with all of its inhabitants and, as a consequence, the condemnation of poaching and hunting.

We are convinced that if the topic is discussed from a very young age, people will be more interested in fighting this situation. Some lessons will also be prepared for the poachers, both Novustikis and Luxorian, in order to let them know and be aware of the end in which our planet is irremediably going if nothing changes and, especially, if there are still people like them. Moreover, in the contract each country decided to re-establish the previous scenario: Novustika can join the hockey competition in Luxoria again, while Luxoria can benefit from our gas and oil deposits as before.

We are proud to say that the long negotiation between us and Luxoria was very fruitful, and we hope that those sad accidents will never be repeated by anyone in UBN.
