Here in Novustika it is mandatory for women and men between the ages of 18 and 25 to join the army. It is important to serve the country at a young age and to be able to protect yourself and your fellow man. You can choose to join the military full time or to combine it with a college or university degree. In that case, you join the military part-time and go to college.

You can serve in the military part-time (called the reserves), get free career training, train a weekend a month and two weeks a year (called annual training) while you go to college.

Between the ages of 18 and 25, you are physically the strongest to be able to train to protect the country. It is not only important to provide protection against possible corrupt people, but also to educate yourself.

When you are 18, your brain is still developing. So it is important to study. That is why, since last year, you have been able to combine your military training with a college of higher education or university degree.

Signa University and Signa College of Applied Sciences offer different programmes. Which will allow you to adapt the programme to your interests. Do you have a maths lump, are you a language freak or are you interested in the supply and demand market? You can study it all extensively.

"I am very satisfied with how the school organises the lessons. I fulfil my civic duty and in the meantime, I can study what I love most, and that's history!"

The importance of combining military training and education

Military training and learning can lead to better education and better career opportunities for students, especially when they do in study-related training. But if you train more than 15 hours a week, it can lower your degree. Therefore we limit our military training to two hours a day and none on Fridays.

The University and College are located on a military base. This close-to-home location makes it much easier to stay focused. Everyone has the same goal and that is what makes it such a success story.

After your four-year military commitment is over, you could very well enter the civilian world with a college degree. Bonus: Your skills set will supersede other recent college graduates too, giving you a serious advantage in the job market!

ā€œI never thought that this was something that I would be able to sustain. But here we are. I am now in my second year and would not have wanted it any other way. Everyone here has the same goal and that motivates you. You learn new things every day. Not only in terms of education, but also on the level of the human being, and that's what's most important. So do I recommend it to everyone? YES, definitely!ā€
